Srinagar: The Indian Army on Thursday said they are prepared to foil any attempt from across the border to send infiltrators into the Valley to disturb peace after killing two terrorists in Machil sector of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district. . Addressing a press conference, Brigadier Vinod Singh Negi said that the operation in Machil sector on 3 May was successful and resulted in the elimination of two infiltrators.
He said that the intelligence agencies were continuously getting inputs about the possibility of infiltration. “It was learned that the infiltrators would be pushed from across the border. The high alert was issued on May 01 following the inputs given by the police,” he said.
He said that additional ambushes were deployed at the likely target locations and based on the inputs, the Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police was also involved in the operation. The Brigadier also said that the operation was carried out in challenging conditions as the troops faced cold weather and low visibility.
“Despite continuous snow, rain, overflow of water channels and challenging environment, the operation was carried out successfully. The brave soldiers stood in the open for more than 48 hours waiting for the intruders.
The Brig said that on 03 May an ambush was carried out and two intruders were killed. “They were shot at and two of them died. The entire area was searched and a war-like shop with eatables with Pakistan markings was recovered.
He said that regular attempts are being made from the other side of the border to disturb the peace here. “All such attempts have been thwarted. We are on full alert and every intrusion will be foiled.
Meanwhile, SSP Kupwara while addressing the press conference said that they will continue to foil any attempt by the enemy. He said, “Vigilant troops have been deployed along the Line of Control. We continue to work jointly with the Army and share every intelligence. No one can cross the Line of Control and disturb the peace here.” Is.”
