Army released notification for recruitment under Agneepath scheme; Registration will start from July

The Army on Monday issued a notification for the induction of soldiers under the Agneepath Military Recruitment Scheme. Under the new model, online registration on the force’s recruitment website is mandatory for all job aspirants, the army said.

It said that the online registration would start from July. The Army said that ‘Agnivar’ will form a separate rank in the Indian Army, which will be different from any other existing rank.

In a detailed note on the plan, the Army said last night that ‘Agnivar’ would be barred from disclosing classified information received during the service period of four years to any unauthorized person or source under the Official Secrets Act, 1923.

It said, “With the introduction of this scheme, enrollment of soldiers in the regular cadre of the Indian Army, except technical cadres of the medical branch, will be available only to those personnel who have completed their period of engagement as Agniveers. Lee,” it said.

The Army stated that the release of an Agniveer is not allowed on its own request before fulfilling the conditions of the engagement. “However, in most exceptional cases, the personnel enrolled under the scheme may be released, if sanctioned by the competent authority,” it said.

The Agneepath scheme, announced on June 14, has a provision to enroll youth between the age of 17 and a half years to 21 years only for four years, of which 25 per cent is to be retained for 15 more years. Later, the government increased the upper age limit for recruitment to 23 years in 2022. Protests have started in many states against the Centre’s plan. The personnel to be recruited under the new scheme will be known as ‘Agnivar’.

The Army said the new recruits would be subject to the provisions of the Army Act, 1950 and would be liable to move wherever ordered by land, sea or air. It said a “distinctive insignia” would be worn by the Agniveers on their uniforms during their service period and detailed instructions on this would be issued separately.

Based on the organizational requirements and policies, ‘Agnivars’, on completion of their period of engagement in each batch, will be provided an opportunity to apply for enrollment in the regular cadre, the Army said.

“These applications will be considered by the Army in a centralized manner on the basis of objective criteria, which include performance during the period of their engagement and not more than 25 per cent of each elite batch of Agniveers from the regular cadre after the completion of their four years. will not be enrolled. period of engagement,” according to the document issued by the Army.

“The firefighters enrolled as regular cadre shall be required to serve for a further engagement period of 15 years and shall be governed by the terms and conditions of service (of Junior Commissioned Officer/Other rank) in force at present,” it said. The Army said the Agniveers would have no right to be elected after the completion of their four-year term.

As part of the enrollment process, each ‘Agneepath’ has to formally accept all the terms and conditions of the ‘Agneepath’ scheme. For personnel under the age of 18, the enrollment form will need to be signed by a parent or guardian, according to the document. ‘Agnivar’ will be eligible for 30 days leave in a year as against 90 days for those in regular service. Medical leave will be granted on the basis of medical advice.

The Army said that 30 per cent of the monthly salary of Agniveers would be compulsorily deposited in a fund and the same amount would be contributed by the government.
