Jammu: Five suspected overground workers of a terrorist organization have been arrested in Jammu and Kashmir.S Rajouri Allegedly helping a group of terrorist infiltrators from Pakistan and killing nine soldiers as they moved from one wooded location to another, dodging Army accidental on their way. Two other suspects were arrested two weeks ago.
“The terrorist operatives arrested late on Monday were in direct contact with the terrorists who were involved in an encounter with the army in the forests of Bhatta Durian. Mendhar and Thannamandi area Rajouri Last month,” said an official.
Security forces have been searching for weeks in the densely forested areas of the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch, but have not been successful in locating the retreating terrorists. A source said, “As per intelligence inputs, over 12 people were part of the network that aided the heavily armed terrorists infiltrating into Jammu and Kashmir from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.”
The overground workers arrested from Thannamandi and Mendhar have been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and other laws.
Of the nine servicemen killed in action, two were junior commissioned officers. Five soldiers died during the search operation in Van Chamerer area Soorankot on 11 October. The other four were killed in a second encounter with terrorists on October 14 at Bhatta Durrian in Mendhar tehsil of Poonch district.
