Indian Army creates integrated defense location along LAC in Arunachal Pradesh

Amid the ongoing border dispute with China, the Indian Army has created integrated defense positions along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Arunachal Pradesh as the Chinese People’s Liberation Army has stepped up military exercises across it. These integrated defense positions are a mechanism in itself at various locations along the LAC. It includes the entire communication, monitoring, operation and logistics system.

It is a complete defense mechanism in itself with complete synergy between all the support systems for the soldiers for the war. The big guns for a military attack can be mobilized in minutes.

Such integrated defense positions are being created along the LAC all over Arunachal Pradesh to thwart any threat or contingency.

Among the big guns, the force has deployed advanced vintage L-70 air defense guns, Bofors and M777 howitzers.

The advanced vintage L-70 air defense gun with high resolution electro optical sensor has enhanced target acquisition and automatic target tracking capabilities in all weather conditions.

This swarm drone is effective against low-flying objects as the advanced gun can automatically spew predictive fire after detecting a threat.

Speaking to news agency IANS, Indian Army captain Saria Abbasi said: “The gun is capable of taking fire and an estimated duration of engagement. It can now be integrated with tactical control radars and fire control radars.”

She also stated that the gun also has a muzzle velocity radar to enhance the accuracy of fire. BEL has upgraded around 200 L70 guns for Rs 575 crore. The army has about 1,180 guns. These guns were first purchased from the Swedish company Bofors AB in the late 1960s and later licensed by the Ordnance Factory Board (OFB).

Seeing the increase in Chinese activities across the LAC, India has enhanced its defense and surveillance capabilities, and also deployed more machines and men to thwart any contingency.

On Tuesday, Eastern Army Commander Lt Gen Manoj Pandey had said, “Keeping all these in mind, we have taken several steps… We are doing this by coordinating the efforts of all our surveillance equipment – from strategic level to tactical level. Till where our soldiers are actually stationed on the LAC.”

Secondly, the adequacy of soldiers is being looked into, he said. “We have sufficient forces which are available in each area to deal with any contingency and we are also doing exercises and rehearsals on various contingencies which may happen in some areas where deployment is less.”

The official also said that they have strengthened the deployment but on a large scale where the deployment was less. India and China have been engaged in a border dispute on the LAC for the last 17 months.
