In a recent exclusive interview with Bollywood Bubble, the ‘Main Rahoon Ya Na Rahoon’ singer decided to address the criticism she has received for singing songs in English. “There have been comments on my posts and even on my YouTube videos saying ‘English mein mat ga, Hindi mein ga, tu usse better hai’ and these are comments that I need to take with a pinch of salt. Because whenever you do something, people don’t expect that you are going against the rule, against the rule book and there will always be negatives and people who will always be against what you are trying to achieve. And that’s totally fine,” he told the publication.
Armaan said that he aspires to be an Indian artist, which Indian fans can establish on a global scale. “Even if there are people who say, ‘You better sing in Hindi, better you sing only in Hindi, not sing in English…’ ‘Don’t try to be Justin Bieber’, is what people say. I don’t think I’m trying to be someone. A lot of people have these misconceptions when you try to do something different. It’s good to have that antagonism, not everyone can be your fan, everyone’s yours May not be lovers, but I think it’s about proving everyone wrong at the end of the day,” he said.
In 2020, Armaan released his first English song Control. He has also done songs like How Manny and Echo. His latest single, You, was released earlier this month.
Armaan has performed in languages including Hindi, English, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi and Malayalam among others. Control earned him the title of ‘Best Indian Act’ at the 2020 MTV EMAs.
