Silchar: An Assam Rifles jawan killed his wife and daughter by slitting their throats at the paramilitary’s force’s camp located at Srikona near here.
Police have conducted a preliminary inquiry and arrested the jawan.
The accused, havildar Ravinder Kumar (40), hails from Aknoor in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to police sources, a jawan went to the quarters of Ravinder in the morning and got no reposnse despite ringing the bell repeatedly. He found the front door open and entered the house where he saw the bodies of Ravinder’s wife and daughter lying in a pool of blood.
The soldier immediately informed the camp officers about the incident and police was informed. The killer jawan was arrested after that.
Police recovered a blood-stained knife from the bathroom of the quarter.
The victims have been identified as Monika (30) and Riddhi Badgal (11).
