We plan to begin the pilot in a phased manner. We have been welcoming people into the office one or two days a week for an initial period of four weeks,” Cook said in an email.
Cook also urged employees to get fully vaccinated if they have a COVID-19 vaccine available. Cook also said that Apple will make adjustments based on local conditions. “We recognize that the situation with the pandemic is dynamic and are prepared to adjust our timing, approach and protocols based on local conditions – such as masking, distancing, vaccination requirements and other measures – as necessary,” it said. . It’s hard to believe we’re already in the home stretch of 2021. As I reflect on this extraordinary year, I am extremely proud of what we have been able to accomplish. Together, we’ve rounded up some of the best Apple products ever. We are making significant progress in our efforts to protect the environment and create a more just world. And we are touching the lives of countless people, providing them with the tools to connect, create, learn and grow.

Most notably, we have achieved all this by working remotely with many of our teams as we navigate the uncertainty of the pandemic. This experience has taught us a lot about flexible work, while also reminding us of the irreplaceable value of individual collaboration. We look forward to taking these lessons forward, and with that in mind, I want to share my current plans for returning to the office in the coming months. Know that, as we have always done, we are monitoring local conditions closely and ready to make any necessary adjustments to our plan.

As of today, we are targeting February 1, 2022 to begin our hybrid work pilot in several global locations where teams have not yet returned to our corporate offices. We plan to start the pilot with a phased approach, welcoming people to the office for a day or two for a day or two for an initial period of four weeks. After this transitional period, we will begin a full pilot three days a week, with eligible teams in the office on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, and with the flexibility to work remotely on Wednesdays and Fridays. As I noted when we announced our Hybrid Work pilot, we have multiple teams whose work requires more individual work, and they work four or five days a week depending on these specific plans. I look forward to more of our teams getting back together again. Our retail store teams have been welcoming customers and offering the personal care and service they expect from us. And about half of our Silicon Valley employees are coming into the office at some point each week. Based on those experiences, we have confidence in our protocol and our ability to ensure a thriving environment for all.

At the same time, we are committed to giving you more flexibility as we move forward. In addition to the option to work remotely twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays, we announced this summer that team members will be able to work remotely for up to two weeks per year with manager approval. I am pleased to report that we are increasing the time you spend working remotely to a total of four weeks per year. It provides more opportunity to travel, be closer to your loved ones, or simply change up your routine.

As we prepare to launch this new pilot, I want to reiterate that we focus first and foremost on the health and well-being of our teams and your families. We know that vaccination is the most important step we can take for our health and the health of our communities, and it is the best way to prevent the severity and spread of the virus. We will continue to closely review government guidelines and requirements regarding vaccination. In the meantime, we strongly encourage all people who are able to receive the vaccine, if it is available to you, to do so.
