Apple Watch saved Haryana dentist’s life: Here’s what CEO Tim Cook said

Apple Watch is extremely popular because of the health features that Apple’s smartwatches provide. At times, as we have seen in Apple’s own presentations and otherwise, the Apple Watch has been integral in saving lives by either diagnosing a life-threatening condition, or simply alerting emergency services when a user is injured. Now, the Apple Watch is at it again and this time, a dentist from Haryana is the man whose life was saved as an Apple Watch detected irregular vitals.

A dentist named Nitesh Chopra of Yamuna Nagar, Haryana gifted his wife apple watch series 6 Last year. Chopra recently had chest pain, and his wife suggested an ECG apple watch, After seeing irregularities in the ECG, the couple went to the hospital to get it checked and after angiography, it was found that Chopra had a terrible blockage of 99.9 percent in the arteries. After a surgery and a few days in the hospital, Chopra was discharged with a stent in his heart. “We were lucky that nothing bad happened. It was the Apple Watch that really indicated that because my husband is in his early 30s, we would never have imagined him suffering from blocked arteries,” The dentist’s wife Neha was quoted in the report.

Chopra, a dentist by profession, says he even ignored Apple Watch readings for a while, thinking that “a young man in his early 30s might not have such an arrhythmia.” However, the last reading on March 12 led him and his family to believe that something was not right in his heart. He also said that while in the ICU, he and his wife were cross-checking the ECG readings with the Apple Watch, and found them in sync. “I would definitely recommend it not only to heart patients but to everyone who cares about their health,” Chopra was quoted as saying.
