Apple may soon release wireless charging devices for its devices: Report

New Delhi: In September 2017, Apple announced AirPower, an unreleased, wireless charging mat developed by the tech giant that’s designed to charge up to three devices simultaneously, with two Qi devices, such as an iPhone. And supports AirPods, and an Apple Watch. Although it was supposed to release in early 2018, Apple announced the cancellation of its release in March 2019, defeating all hopes of getting a wireless charger from Apple. However, according to media reports, there is talk of the device being released soon.

According to media reports, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg said in his weekly newsletter that Apple has some big plans for wireless charging. Citing them, the reports said, “I think Apple is still working on some sort of multi-device charger that it wants to release eventually.”

Gurman said Apple plans to work on short- and long-range wireless charging devices. He said in the newsletter that Apple wants to envision a future where the company’s flagship devices can charge each other, according to reports. “Imagine an iPad charging an iPhone and then that iPhone charging AirPods or an Apple Watch,” Grauman was quoted as saying in the report.

Apple is one of the few companies that has avoided reverse wireless charging through its devices. Reverse wireless charging refers to the ability of a wireless charging-enabled phone or device to act as a charging station and be used to charge another wireless device. Apple’s MagSafe charging, which works with the iPhone and AirPods, is relatively new.

When Apple announced the cancellation of the release of AirPower in 2019, the company said it believed the future was wireless and was committed to advancing the wireless experience.

Apple hasn’t commented on anything related to the recent wireless charger release.
