Apple brought a bug change to the iPhone during its WWDC 2022 developer conference. The company finally came up with the customizable lock screen for iPhone users, a feature that will drastically change the appearance of the iPhone.
Now, while a customizable lock screen is something it was expected to come with iOS 16, Apple was also said to bring an always-on display, but the company did not announce it during its WWDC 2022 keynote. However, now there are indications within the iOS 16 code that Always-On Display is under development. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman predicted that iOS 16 would build support for Always On Display in preparation for the feature potentially launching alongside the iPhone 14 series.

As with the first developer beta for iOS 16, there have now been several references to the software’s code for Always-On Display on iOS 16. According to 9to5Mac, three new frameworks related to backlight management have been added to the iPhone display. Backlight management is a key hardware aspect of enabling the Always-On feature.
All of the frameworks found in the iOS 16 code are used by various components of iOS 16, including the lock screen. Also, there are many references to the Apple Watch’s Always On Display features, but that’s not the case here.
There are also hidden tags that can enable iOS 16 Always On Display on iPhones that don’t have supporting hardware. This will give Apple engineers the ability to test the feature before the company launches the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models.
