AP High Court suspends order of appointment of special invitees in TTD board

The High Court of Andhra Pradesh has suspended the government’s order for the appointment of special invitees to the board of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD).

A division bench of Chief Justice Anup Kumar Goswami and Justice Jaya Surya suspended orders 568 and 569, through which special invitees were appointed to the government.

Recently, the government has appointed 52 special invitees for the TTD Trust Board members. Three petitions have been filed in the High Court challenging the appointment of a large number of special invitees.

The petitioner’s counsel Y Balaji appealed to the court that the board members have been appointed against the Endowment Act, which will cause inconvenience to the common devotees.

Advocate General Sriram argued that there was no violation of rules and only protocol would be given to the members of the board in darshan. The High Court, after hearing the arguments of both the sides, issued orders suspending the appointment of the special invitees.

Endowments Minister Vellampalli Srinivas said the decision to appeal to the High Court would be taken after examining the orders of the High Court.
