Anupam Kher Pledges Rs 5 Lakhs For Kashmiri Pandits At ‘Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave’ in New Delhi

New Delhi: Actor Anupam Kher recently attended the ‘Global Kashmiri Pandit Conclave’ in New Delhi, where he spoke at length about the plight of Kashmiri Pandits and how his film ‘The Kashmir Files’ exposed them. He referred to the atrocities committed on Kashmiri Pandits and urged the audience to volunteer in financially supporting charities working on issues centric to the community and also announced an amount of Rs 5 lakh for the same.

He said, “The Kashmir Files” shows the problems of Kashmiri Pandits. We have earned a lot. We donate to foreign organizations which are already doing well financially. Now it is important to donate to our own people. I pledge 5 lakh rupees for them.”

The conference is being organized by the Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora. It is a two-day conference and Sadhguru is also one of the keynote speakers for the event. Talking about ‘The Kashmir Files’, the film recently won the ‘Best Film’ award at the Dadasaheb Phalke International Film Festival Awards. Anupam Kher also won the ‘Most Versatile Actor of the Year’ award for his role in ‘The Kashmir Files’.

The Kashmir Files, a film on the lives of Kashmiri Pandits during the 1990 Kashmir insurgency, is based on video interviews of first-generation victims of the Kashmiri genocide, giving accounts of their pain, suffering, struggle and trauma. Talking about Anupam Kher on the work front, he will be seen in Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri’s ‘The Vaccine War’ and Kangana Ranaut’s directorial ‘Emergency’. He was last seen in `Shiv Shastri Balboa` which hit the theaters earlier this month. The film also stars Neena Gupta, Nargis Fakhri and Sharib Hashmi.
