Mumbai: Anupam Kher, who is playing a key role in Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming film ‘Kashmir Files’, will now himself make a film on the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s. Anupam Kher announced this at the launch of Anushka Dhar’s book ‘NH44: Take Me Home’.

‘NH44: Take Me Home’ is an English book by 16-year-old author Anushka Dhar, based on the plight and exodus of Kashmiri Pandits in the 90s. Anupam Kher, who was present at the launch of this book at a five star hotel in Mumbai today, praised Anushka Dhar for telling the world about Kashmiri Pandits through the book at the age of 16. Will make a film on this book.

Anupam Kher has written the introduction of ‘NH44: Take Me Home’. The actor said, “I didn’t think I would make a film on this book. But I feel it is very important to tell the story of what happened to the Pandits in Kashmir and that’s why I thought of making a film on it.

Kher was deeply impressed by the sympathy expressed in Anushka’s book for Kashmiri Pandits and her passion for the problem of Kashmiri Pandits. He further added, “While girls of her age are still growing up and focusing on their grooming, Anushka thought of bringing the pain of Kashmiri Pandits in front of everyone, which is very commendable.”

Anupam Kher said that despite such atrocities with Kashmiri Pandits, Pandits never took up guns and did not participate in any kind of terrorist activities. “They always lived in the hope that one day they would get a chance to go back home,” the actor said.

Born and brought up in Shimla, Anupam Kher said that he wants to take his mother back to Kashmir one day. Anupam Kher expressed hope that the day will surely come when all Kashmiri Pandits will get a chance to return to their homes.

Meanwhile, during the launch of ‘NH 44: Take Me Home’, Ashok Pandit, who is the director of the 2004 film ‘Sheen’, was also present at the event.
