Another petition in the District Court demanding an early survey in the Shahi Idgah Masjid of Mathura

A fresh revision petition has been filed in a district court here urging it to direct a survey of the Shahi Idgah mosque and verify the claims of signs indicating a temple there. “Additional District Judge Sanjay Choudhary has fixed July 8 as the date for disposal of a revision application,” district government counsel Sanjay Gaur said on Tuesday.

Last week, Additional District Judge Sanjay Choudhary, disposing of a similar application, expedited the trial court’s plea to appoint a court commissioner to survey the Shahi Idgah mosque and verify the claims of temple signs there. was ordered to make a decision. The revision applications came after the lower court of the civil judge (senior division), which is hearing a series of cases for removal of the Shahi Idgah Masjid from near the Krishna Janmabhoomi temple, on May 23 fixed their application for further hearing on July 1. The petitioners are seeking an immediate order expressing the apprehension that the evidence of the temple structure may be damaged or destroyed. Petitioner Dinesh Chandra Sharma’s counsel submitted that the judge who had decided to hear the matter on reopening of courts after summer vacation has now moved to the district court. Sharma, treasurer of the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, is among those who have filed the suit.

Sharma said that the petitioners had claimed in the earlier application that the temple had signs of the mosque, and had also expressed apprehension that the same (mark) may be mutilated or destroyed by the respondent of the suit, Sharma said. . The petitioner’s counsel submitted that the revision application seeks to set aside the order of the trial court and pass order for the survey.

The trial court is hearing interim applications for removal of Shahi Idgah mosque from near Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Katra Keshav Dev temple complex and appointment of court commissioner to survey the mosque. The petitioners have sought a survey of the mosque, which shows several signs of temples, such as “Om, Swastika and Kamal” inside it, besides its alleged “Hindu architecture”.

The petition has been filed by Devata Thakur Keshav Dev Ji Maharaj Virajman (in-situ) as a jurist, represented by advocates Mahendra Pratap Singh and Rajendra Maheshwari as his “next friend”. Other petitioners included United Hindu Front founder Jai Bhagwan Goel, Delhi resident and Vrindavan-based Dharma Raksha Sangh president Saurabh Gaur.

The respondents include Secretary Intejamiya Committee Shahi Masjid Idgah, Mathura, President of UP Sunni Central Waqf Board Lucknow, Managing Trustee of Shri Krishna Janmasthan Seva Sansthan Mathura and Secretary of Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Trust, Mathura.
