Another madrassa linked to al Qaida demolished in Assam | Guwahati News – Times of India

GUWAHATI: A non-government madrassa in Assam’s Barpeta district was demolished by the district authorities on Monday over its links with al Qaida.
Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, “A madrassa at Dhakaliapara in Barpeta district from where jehadi activities were taking place has been evicted today after following due process of law.”
Police also arrested the madrassa’s principal of Mahmunur Rashid.
The demolished madrasa, Shaikhul Hind Mahmudul Hasan Jamiul Huda Islamic Academy was found to have housed two Bangladeshi nationals who are members of Al Qaida in Indian Sub-Continent (AQIS) terror outfit.
One of the two Bangladeshi terrorists, Md Suman alias Saiful Islam was arrested earlier but the the second is absconding.
On August 4, another madrassa in Morigaon district of the state, whose head mufti was arrested for having alleged links with AQIS, was demolished.
