Another AIMIM leader arrested in Hubbali violence case; Maharashtra govt slams Lata Mangeshkar’s family; more

The Hubballi police have arrested Dadapeer Betgeri, the city chief of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen, in connection with the violence that broke out in Karnataka city on April 16.

He is the fourth AIMIM leader to be arrested in the case. The police have arrested a total of 146 people so far.

Maharashtra Home Minister Jitendra Awhad has accused the Mangeshkar family of grave insult for allegedly omitting Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s name from the invites to the Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar award ceremony. The inaugural Lata Deenanath Mangeshkar Award was held in Mumbai on Sunday and Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred the honour.
