In 2001, Sunny Deol and Anil Sharma joined forces to make cinematic history with ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha’. The film surpassed the long-standing box office record of Hum Aapke Hai Kaun, becoming an all-time grosser. This action-packed movie, set against the backdrop of the Indo-Pak partition, holds the millennium record for the highest footfalls and is expected to remain unchallenged forever. Now, 22 years after Gadar’s historic success, Sunny Deol, Anil Sharma, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma decided to extend the story with Gadar 2.
Gadar 2 made its debut on the big screen over the Independence Day weekend in 2023, and the outcome exceeded expectations. Despite being considered an underdog and facing challenges such as the clash with OMG 2 and restricted ticket rates, Gadar 2 shattered existing records. The sequel also achieved the status of an All-Time Grosser, surpassing the previous record held by Pathaan. Now, the team is ready to continue the story and kickoff Gadar 3.

The source revealed that everyone involved in the project is in agreement with the idea and is eagerly looking forward to the journey with Gadar 3. They mentioned that while there is still a significant amount of writing to be done to develop the concept further, the team has a clear direction for the ongoing story of Tara Singh, Sakina, and Jeete. If everything goes according to plan, Gadar 3 is expected to start production by the end of 2025.
When reached for comment, Anil Sharma, who was on the set of Journey directing Utkarsh Sharma and Nana Patekar, confirmed the development. He mentioned, “Yes, we have finalized the basic idea for Gadar 3. I am currently engaged in shooting for Journey and will soon begin working on the script for Gadar 3
