Veteran screenwriter-actor Shiva Subrahmanyam passed away on Sunday night. The news was confirmed by filmmaker Hansal Mehta, who posted a note about Subramaniam’s demise on Twitter, writing that it was “terrible news to wake up to”. The sad news of his passing has shocked fans and fellow members of the film industry. Several actors, directors and screenwriters have shared tributes and heartfelt condolences on social media. Siva Subramaniam also wrote the screenplay for Sudhir Mishra’s Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi. Paying his tribute, Mishra tweeted, “Shiva Subramaniam co-wrote Chameli and Hazaaron with me not this Raat Ki Dawn, but much earlier in 1984, when I was Saeed Mirza’s Mohan Joshi Haazir Ho, Naseer ( Naseeruddin Shah). The little kid who came on the set asked me to teach him the ropes. The kid learned fast.”

Filmmakers Ashok Pandit and Hansal Mehta also expressed their condolences on social media. Also, Manoj Bajpayee, Ranvir Shorey, Randeep Hooda among others took to Twitter to pay tribute to Subrahmanyam.

Subramaniam established his name in the industry by writing the screenplay of the 1989 film ‘Parinda’. Her acting credits also include 2 States, Kaminey, Hichki, Stanley Ka Dabba and That Girl in Yellow Boots. The late actor was last seen in Meenakshi Sundareshwar.
