Many filmmakers and actors have their own interpretations of words like genteel, fashionable and trendy. actor-filmmaker Feroz Khan gave a spin to the terms which became his signature on screen. It didn’t matter what he played on screen – he made it modern, trendy and iconic. His mysterious presence on screen enthralled the audience for decades before he called it a day. Feroz Khan played a stylish don in his last film Anees Bazmee2007 comedy, Welcome, starring Akshay Kumar, Katrina Kaif, Anil Kapoor, And Nana Patekar in the central characters. The filmmaker makes it a point to pay tribute to the senior star every year on his birth anniversary. Anees, who has also worked with Fardeen khanFeroz Khan’s son, says, “Oh! I can never forget his enigmatic personality. He was such a charming and such a good hearted person. I used to sit with him for long hours while we were working on Welcome He shot. A big part of his role in Dubai. We sit together every evening and talk about films and the past. I have seen many of his films, especially Dharmatma And unauthorized. He introduced such a modern approach and style to filmmaking. He gave it a completely different avatar. I had a very good relationship with him. He would love to talk about the cinema that influenced him. I had worked with Fardeen in No Entry and he loved that film. He invited me home and we had a great time talking. This is where our bonding started. I found myself attracted to the person that he is. It had been years since he had stopped working, perhaps he was aware of his health condition and didn’t want to jeopardize anyone’s film. But I insisted on keeping him on board and he agreed. This was his last film that he shot. The role became larger than life because of him. Feroz Khan made even the smallest character bigger than life. Anil and Nana were very happy working with him. Khan sahib loved me. For years when I would watch his movies, I would wonder what one could give to a man of his stature; What kind of character can do justice to his time and hard work. I am thankful that I found something that finally became memorable because of him. After returning from his shoots in Dubai, he used to call me every day and ask me about all the actors and technicians in the team. He used to remember everyone by their first name. Professionals and actors like him can spoil you for the rest of your life.”
