Divisive internet personality Andrew Tate said on Wednesday that there was no justice in Romania and that the case file against him in a criminal investigation for alleged human trafficking and rape was empty.

Tate, his brother Tristan and two Romanian female suspects have been in police custody since 29 December, pending an ongoing criminal investigation into charges of forming a criminal ring for the sexual exploitation of women, charges they deny.

On Thursday, a Romanian court extended his custody until February 27. Prosecutors have said that the Tate brothers recruited their victims by luring and falsely claiming to be in a relationship or marriage.

Prosecutors said the victims were then taken to properties on the outskirts of the capital Bucharest and sexually abused through physical violence and mental intimidation, forcing them to produce pornographic material for social media sites, which would yield huge financial profits. Happened.

He also said that Andrew Tate, a former professional kickboxer who holds American and British nationality, had raped one of the victims in March last year, which he denied.

“They know we’ve done nothing wrong,” Tate told reporters as he was brought in for further questioning by anti-organized crime prosecutors, his first comments to the media since his arrest. This file is completely empty. Of course it is unjust, unfortunately there is no justice in Romania.

When asked if he had hurt women, Tate said, “Absolutely not.”

Earlier this month, Romanian authorities said they had seized 18 million lei ($3.99 million) in goods and money, including luxury cars and properties, as part of the investigation.

Tristan Tate told reporters on Wednesday, “There is no evidence against me.” “The officers are planning to steal my cars and steal my money. That’s why I’m in jail.”

Prosecutors have said the seizure was to prevent the property from being sold or hidden.

Andrew Tate gained mainstream notoriety for anti-feminist comments that got him banned from all major social media platforms, although his Twitter account was reinstated in November. Elon Musk acquired the social media giant.

He has said that he moved to Romania because he preferred living in countries where corruption was accessible to everyone.
