Hollywood has given us dozens of fairy tale movies. But now for the first time this kind of fantasy film is being made in regional cinema in which an actress is playing the role of a mermaid. Actress Andrea Jeremiah, who is known for choosing challenging scripts that a series has to offer, will portray this mythical aquatic creature in a new fantasy film with director Dinesh Selvaraj. She will join a yet-to-be-titled project with a star cast of Sunaina, Munishkant, Indumati and 50 child actors.
Focus Films is producing this untitled project. To shoot this fantasy film, the makers have set up a huge set in Chennai at a cost of Rs 50 lakh. The team is planning to complete the filming of the film by February and is expected to release it for the summer. The team is currently shooting in T Nagar, Chennai.
According to media reports, the upcoming film will have animation and VFX to give visual treat to the audience. The film is touted to be the first mermaid-themed film made in India. The producers said that they chose Andrea because she is a “perfect performer” and is tall enough to be suitable for her role as a majestic mermaid. Andrea, who plays the role of an angel in the upcoming film, has played the role of a devil in Miskin Devil 2.
Andrea was last seen in the horror flick Aranmanai 3. Helmed by filmmaker Sundar C, the film also featured Arya and Raashi Khanna in lead roles. The film was released on 14 October last year.
Andrea had also appeared in an extended cameo in the Vijay starrer hit film Master. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film was released on January 13 last year.
