In a shocking incident in Andhra Pradesh, a three-month-old girl has joined hands with people from different places in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The police finally rescued the infant from a man in West Godavari district and reunited the girl with her mother.
Giving information about the matter to the media, Deputy Superintendent of Police Mangalagiri J Rambabu said that Medabalimi Manoj, a daily wage laborer of Ganalayapet, has three daughters. He was addicted to alcohol and was unable to raise his three daughters, therefore, he decided to sell his youngest child.
He sold it to a woman named Meghavath Gayatri from Nalgonda district of Telangana through baby girl Nagalakshmi for Rs 70,000. Unaware of this, the child’s grandmother lodged a missing complaint. A special police team was formed to trace the child.
Later, the police found that Gayatri sold the girl to a woman named Bhukiya Nandu of Lambadi Devla Tanda in Palkade village of Nalgonda district for Rs 1,20,000.
The child, who was later bought at Bhukia Nandu, was handed over to SK Noorjahan of Dilshuk Nagar in Hyderabad for Rs 1,80,000. Noor Jahan sold the child to a married woman named Bomada Ummadevi of Chikkadapalli in Narayanguda Narayan Guda, Hyderabad for Rs 1,90,000.
Again, Bomada Umadevi sold the child to Padala Shravani of Vijayawada Benz circle for Rs 2,00,000. Padala Shravani sold the girl to Garikmukku Vijayalakshmi of Gollapudi for Rs 2,20,000. In the end, the baby girl was sold to Warre Rameh of Eluru in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh for Rs 2,50,000.
“A preliminary investigation has revealed that all those involved in the sale of the child were not part of any organized child trafficking racket. They did this to earn more money,” said DSP Ramababu.
He said that 11 people, including the girl’s father, have been arrested and a case has been registered against them under Section 372 of the IPC and the Juvenile Justice Act, 2015.
