An old woman died after a fire broke out in an empty multi-storey flat in Kolkata

Once again a lonely old lady died in a fire in Calcutta. A woman named Poornima Chattopadhyay (60) died in a fire at a residence on MC Roy Road in Tiljala on Saturday afternoon. Preliminary investigation suggests that he was set on fire while cooking.

On Saturday afternoon, locals noticed smoke on the fifth floor of the apartment named Arjun Apartments on MC Roy Road. He ran and saw that the door was locked from inside. Burning flat. He broke the door and went inside and saw that the old lady was burnt. After saving him, the doctors declared him brought dead.

On receiving the news, the fire brigade reached the spot. Two fire tenders doused the fire. Firefighters said there was a lot of plastic in the flat. Due to which the fire has spread. However, they do not know how the fire started.

Neighbors told that the old lady lived in the house with her daughter. The girl was not in the flat at the time of the incident. He probably got burnt while cooking.
