Amrita Fadnavis apologizes for tweet linking Nawab Malik to ‘drug peddler’

Amrita Fadnavis, wife of BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, on Thursday sent a legal notice to Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik, tweeting some pictures and asking him to apologize for trying to link him with an alleged drug smuggler.

The notice said that NCP chief spokesperson Malik should tender an unconditional apology within 48 hours and delete his “derogatory tweet”. If she did not do so, she would initiate proceedings against him under section 499 (defamation) of the Indian Penal Code and also file a civil suit for damages.

The notice, sent through Parinam Law Associates, claims that Malik has maligned Amrita Fadnavis and her family. The notice said, “It was intended to portray and suggest that our client has an affair with drug peddlers, specifically one … with whom, photographs of our client are shared in the said defamatory tweets, The notice stated.

The notice stated that the alleged drug smuggler seen with Amrita in the photographs was hired by March Nadi and he and his family had no relation with him.
