Amravati violence a ploy to destabilize Maharashtra government: Sanjay Raut

In a veiled attack on the opposition BJP, Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday said the violence in Amaravati and elsewhere in Maharashtra was aimed at destabilizing the MVA government. Speaking to reporters on the Amaravati violence, in which a mob allegedly pelted stones and damaged shops during a bandh called by the BJP this morning, Raut said the state government is in the saddle and the real faces of the perpetrators of the violence will soon come. Will come to the fore

Violence broke out on Saturday during a bandh (bandh) against incidents of stone pelting on Friday during rallies organized by Muslim organizations in various districts to protest against the Tripura communal violence.

In Amravati’s Rajkamal Chowk area, hundreds of people carrying saffron flags and shouting slogans came out on the streets. An Amravati police official said earlier in the day that some members of the mob pelted stones at shops and damaged them, following which the police had to lathi-charge the protesters.

“The violence that is happening in Maharashtra is aimed at destabilizing the MVA government. Encouraging the violence, they (opposition) will meet the state governor and write a letter to the Union home ministry claiming that the (law and order) situation Maharashtra is deteriorating. It will happen in future also. But the state government is in the saddle,” Raut said.

He said that the “real faces” behind this violence would come out in the investigation of the state home ministry. Shiv Sena, NCP and Congress are constituents of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.

Meanwhile, AIMIM MP Imtiaz Jaleel has condemned the violence in Amravati.

“I condemn the violence in Tripura as well as Maharashtra. I want to question the leaders of the state who came to power with the votes of Muslims and why they did not condemn the violence in Tripura. If it is violence in Maharashtra It is an example of irresponsibility by any political party.

The police have so far arrested 20 people in connection with Friday’s violence.
