Addressing the valedictory session of a national conference on ‘Mann Ki Baat@100’ at Vigyan Bhavan here, he said the half-hour episode of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ inspired crores of people to contribute towards the nation.

Shah said the beauty of ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is that a political figure like Narendra Modi did not mention a single political issue in its 99 episodes. The telecast will see its 100th episode on 30 April.

Describing ‘Mann Ki Baat’ as the foundation of democracy, he said that strong dialogue between the leader and the public makes democracy strong.

He said that Prime Minister Modi’s two important contributions to the country’s democracy were removal of casteism, nepotism and appeasement from its politics and opening of Padma Awards to common people.

The Minister said that earlier Padma Awards were given considering the clout of a person, but now even a very ordinary person who has achieved a great position can be conferred with this national honor in a transparent manner.

“PM Modi’s ‘Mann Ki Baat’ has taken All India Radio to the younger generation… ‘Mann Ki Baat’ is a holistic dialogue inspiring 130 crore Indians,” he said.

He said that PM Modi turns every challenge into an opportunity.
