Amit Shah holds high-level meeting over security issues in J&K, to meet families of Rajouri terror victims

Jammu: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday chaired a high-level meeting with officials in Jammu on security related issues in the Union Territory. Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha also attended the meeting. Shah reached Jammu this afternoon to meet the families of those killed in the twin terror attack in Rajouri. He was received by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha at the Jammu airport. Officers of civil administration and security establishment participated in the high-level meeting held at Raj Bhavan. Senior officers of various forces and intelligence agencies were also present in it. The Home Minister is scheduled to visit Dhangari village in Rajouri district to meet the families of the victims of the twin terror attack. He will also review the ground situation with the security forces.

Seven people from the minority community, including two children, were killed and fourteen others were injured in the twin terror attacks in Dhangari Basti. Where four people were shot dead on the evening of 1 January, two children were killed and several others injured after a suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast in the same area on the morning of 2 January.

Officials said a multi-layered security cordon comprising police and CAPF personnel has been put in place, while Indian Army personnel will also guard the high altitude areas.

He said that CCTV cameras have also been installed at several places in Dhangari village to ensure strict vigilance of the area.

Senior police and CAPF officials also visited the area on Thursday evening and reviewed the security arrangements ahead of the Home Minister’s visit.
