Amit Shah arrives in Jammu on a two-day visit, chairs security review meeting with officials

new Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah has reached Jammu on a two-day visit to the Union Territory. According to the report of news agency ANI, he was received by Union Minister Jitendra Singh. The Home Minister along with Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a security review meeting with top officials.

Shah also handed over job appointment letters to the families of the martyred policemen at the Raj Bhavan in Jammu.

The Home Minister will preside over the CRPF Raising Day as the chief guest. He will participate in the 83rd Raising Day program of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) in Jammu on March 19.

This will be the first time that CRPF Raising Day will be celebrated outside the national capital.

Meanwhile, this is Shah’s second visit to Jammu in the last five months. Earlier he had gone to Jammu and Kashmir for five days. On March 19, 1950, the then Home Minister, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel rebranded the CRPF after the enactment of the CRPF Act and the force was rechristened to its present name. The CRPF was established in 1939 as the Crown Representatives Police.
