Shah is visiting the state ahead of next month’s rural polls and the party is looking to strengthen its organizational machinery.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah reached West Bengal on Friday on a two-day visit to the state. During the yatra, he will hold a public meeting and take stock of the organizational strength of the BJP in the state.

He reached Andal airport in Paschim Bardhaman at around 12:40 pm. He was received by BJP State President Sukant Majumdar, Leader of Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly Shubhendu Adhikari and other senior BJP leaders.

Amit Shah ji has a program to hold a public meeting in Birbhum in the afternoon and inaugurate the district party office in Suri. He will come to the city in the evening. And will go to Dakshineswar temple and offer prayers,” said a senior state BJP leader.

Later in the evening, he will hold a meeting with state party leaders and take stock of the organizational situation at a city hotel.

Shah’s program in Bengal is part of the BJP’s ‘migration’ campaign to strengthen its organization in the 144 Lok Sabha seats in the country which it lost by a narrow margin in the 2019 general elections.

The party had won 18 of the total 42 Lok Sabha seats in Bengal in the 2019 elections.
