This move by Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao seems to have put an end to the ongoing war of words between Pragati Bhavan (Chief Minister’s Office) and Raj Bhavan.

The budget session of the Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council began on an interesting note on Friday. Amid the ongoing tussle, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao personally invited Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan to inaugurate the session ‘with folded hands’.

The CM’s move seems to have put an end to the war of words between Pragati Bhavan (Chief Minister’s Office) and Raj Bhavan, clearing the air.

The rapprochement comes after a standoff between the two which has reportedly been resolved through mutual talks by both the parties.

Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan addressed the joint sitting of both the Houses. However, he read out a speech which was allegedly prepared by the state government.

He began his speech with a popular quote from one of the poems written by Praja Kavi (folk poet) – Kaloji Narayan Rao.

“Telangana has become a role model for the country. Very soon Telangana will become the bread basket of the country. Under the leadership of CM KCR and the efforts of efficient administration and people’s representatives, the state is progressing rapidly. Telangana has made unprecedented achievements.

The governor also said that the state is ‘glowing’ with 24-hour uninterrupted power supply. He also claimed that Telangana is no longer suffering from the problem of drinking water as free drinking water is being supplied to every household in the villages.

Telangana has become an investment heaven. The state is getting appreciation from other countries for maintaining the greenery of the state. Telangana is doing miracles that have taken the entire nation by surprise,” said Tamilisai Soundararajan in her speech.

He said the Rythu Bandhu scheme – meant for farmers in the state – is getting appreciation across the world.

“Telangana is the only state providing crop investment assistance where 65 lakh farmers have received Rs 65,000 crore so far. The development of agriculture sector in the state has become a matter of debate across the country.

He said that Dr. B.R. Inspired by Ambedkar, the state government is providing financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh to each beneficiary under the Dalit Bandhu scheme. This is the first scheme of its kind.

He ended his nearly 40-minute speech with a poem written by poet Dasardhi.

The assembly session was adjourned till tomorrow. Reacting to his speech, BJP MLA E Rajendra told reporters that there is unrest among the people and youth of Telangana, though the government forced the governor to “lie”.

“The governor’s speech is designed, written by the government itself,” he said, indicating that there were not high expectations.
