A month after Amber Heard lost her defamation case against her ex-husband Johnny Depp, the actress has now moved court again. Amber Heard challenges defamation lawsuit verdict

According to Court House News, Amber Heard’s attorney has argued that she was unaware of the title of her 2018 article until the defamation suit was filed by Depp. “Mr. Depp’s team proceeded solely on the defamation by implication principle, barring any claims that Ms. Heard’s statements were in fact false. Ms. Heard was unaware of the title of her 2018 article and until Mr. Depp asked her She didn’t even know about the title till she filed a case against him,” the actress’s lawyer said.

Multiple reports also suggest that the brief presented by Heard’s lawyer in court argued that Depp’s team ‘proceeded solely on defamation by implied principle’. Apart from this, the lawyer of the Aquaman actress has also questioned the amount of damage, calling it ‘excessive’.

What was the court’s decision in the Johnny Depp and Amber Heard case?

Johnny Depp filed a $50 million defamation suit against his ex-wife Amber Heard. The case was over a newspaper article that Heard had written and Johnny alleged was detrimental to his career. While Amber did not name anyone in that article, she did mention that she was a domestic abuse survivor. However, on June 1 this year, the court ruled in Johnny’s favor and agreed that Heard defamed him in a 2018 op-ed. The court then asked the actress to pay US$8.4 million for damages caused to Johnny’s image and career.

Meanwhile, Court House News has also reported that Johnny Depp’s legal team has dismissed the appeal, saying “this is what we expected, just not real anymore.”
