Ambedkar Museum will act as a beacon to perpetuate his legacy: Punjab CM Channi

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi on Thursday said that the upcoming state-of-the-art BR Ambedkar Museum will act as a lighthouse to perpetuate the glorious legacy of Babasaheb among the generations to come. Addressing the gathering after laying the foundation stone of the museum and handing over job letters to the youth at the state level mega job fair at IK Gujral Punjab Technical University, the Chief Minister said that the state government would spend Rs 150 crore on this prestigious project.

According to an official statement, he said that this memorial will go a long way in perpetuating the life and philosophy of this great leader, who played a big role in the welfare of the poorest of the poor, according to an official statement. Channi said that the project would be a unique amalgamation of facts in subjects related to the life, work and philosophy of Ambedkar, the Dalit ideal and one of the prime architects of the Indian Constitution.

On this occasion, Channi also performed ‘Bhangra’ with a group of youth on a stage. The CM further said that this beautifully designed museum will be spread over an area of ​​25 acres and will come up with an investment of around Rs 150 crore.

He said that the museum would be divided into five zones, with galleries showcasing the life, philosophy, work, personal life and socio-economic impact of Babasaheb’s philosophy. Paying tribute to Ambedkar, Channi described him as a great scholar, jurist, economist, social reformer and a statesman.

Congratulating the newly recruited youth, he said that it is good for them that they have got these jobs but it will not be their final destination and they will have to work hard to achieve more success in future. He asked the youth to take inspiration from Baba Saheb for excellence in life.

Channi assured full support and cooperation to the youth for building a new and vibrant Punjab. He said that his sole aim was to make Punjab a prosperous and progressive state for which he would work hard.

Seeking the support of the youth to make Punjab a corruption free state, Channi said that the state government will adopt a zero tolerance policy towards corruption, for which youth need to play an active role. He said that education is the only key to raise the standard of living of the weaker and deprived sections due to which the government is emphasizing on strengthening the education infrastructure in the state.

He said that the State Government would soon establish Dr. BR Ambedkar Institute of Management in collaboration with IIM Amritsar at Kapurthala. Similarly, School of Ambedkar Thought and Baba Sahib Ambedkar Center for Research in Inequality and Research would also be established in Doaba region, he added.

‘Racist’ remarks against Channi: Police asked to take action

Taking suo motu cognizance of the alleged casteist remarks against Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, the Punjab State Scheduled Castes Commission on Thursday directed the police to take action and submit the report by September 29. In a statement here, Commission Chairperson Tejinder Kaur said, on a Facebook account, Handler had posted the most derogatory and casteist remarks about the Punjab Chief Minister, which went viral on social media. Taking suo motu cognizance of these observations, the Chairman directed the Director, Bureau of Investigation to take action under the relevant section of the Prevention of Atrocities Act, 1989. It asked the director to submit a report by September 29.
