Amarnath Yatra: Over 7,100 pilgrims leave for cave temple from base camp

New Delhi: The Amarnath Yatra, which resumed on Monday after a two-day suspension, following a cloudburst and flash floods near the cave temple that killed 16 and injured 37, on Tuesday (July 12, 2022) It continued, as another batch of 7,107 pilgrims left the Jammu base. Valley side camp.

Officials said the yatra resumed on Monday from the Pahalgam base camp while it was not resumed from the Baltal base camp as the 14-km-long North Kashmir trek has been damaged at three places.

“Helicopter services for passengers continued from both the base camps to the cave temple,” officials said.

Another batch of 7,107 pilgrims left for the Valley in two security convoys from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Tuesday. “Of these, 5,158 are going to Pahalgam while 1949 are going to Baltal,” the officials said.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited Chandanwadi on Monday and reviewed the arrangements, medical facilities and preparedness for the Amarnath Yatra. He also inspected DRDO Hospital.

It may be noted that so far more than 1,20,000 pilgrims have visited the shrine inside the holy cave shrine. The 43-day Amarnath Yatra 2022 began on June 30 and will end on August 11 on Shravan Purnima along with Raksha Bandhan festival.
