Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair summoned by court in Lakhimpur Kheri

Lakhimpur Kheri: A court in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh has summoned Alt News co-founder Mohammad Zubair on July 11 in a case registered on charges of promoting enmity in November last year. A senior official gave this information on Saturday. Soon after Zubair was granted interim bail by the Supreme Court on Friday for hurting religious sentiments in Sitapur, the Lakhimpur Kheri police issued him a warrant to appear in court.

Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Mohammadi’s court in Kheri district issued a warrant against Mohammad Zubair, which was executed by Kheri police on Friday, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Arun Kumar Singh said on Saturday.

Mohammadi police station in-charge Amber Singh told PTI that on November 25, 2021, Ashish Katiyar, a correspondent of a private news channel, had filed a case against Mohammad Zubair by order of the Kheri court.

“In his complaint, Katiyar had accused Zubair of misleading people by tweeting about his channel,” he said. Inspector Amber Singh said, “Kheeri police reached Sitapur on Friday and handed over the warrant issued by the court of Mohammadi ACJM to the authorities of Sitapur district jail where Zubair was lodged.”
