Alleging that BJP-ruled NDMC land was being transferred to an NGO ‘illegal’, AAP took out a march in Delhi. Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party took out protest marches at various places in Delhi against the transfer of land of a civic body allegedly worth Rs 50 crore to an NGO to which the husband of a BJP corporator is linked. Raising this issue, the party took out a foot march in all the wards of the three municipal corporations of the national capital. AAP said in a statement.
“All the councilors of the Aam Aadmi Party, including the leaders of the AAP’s opposition, led a ‘padayatra’ in their wards and apprised the people of the corruption in the BJP-ruled municipal corporations,” the AAP said.
The party alleged that North Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) BJP councilor Manju Khandelwal transferred a piece of land worth Rs 50 crore of the civic body “free of cost to her husband’s NGO in violation of norms”.
He said, “We raised the issue in the North MCD session, but no attention was paid to it. We protested several times and demanded that the BJP return the land to the municipal corporation.
But, instead of taking action, he said there was no harm in doing so (transferring the land) as the land was given in the name of an NGO,” AAP’s Leader of Opposition in NDMC Vikas Goyal Was accused.
He termed the transfer of civic body’s land to NGOs as “illegal and criminal” and said Delhiites would oust the saffron party from power in the upcoming civic polls.
He said, “So we took out ‘padyatra’ in our wards and educated the people about how BJP is looting them. All over Delhi, the public was in agreement that the BJP is completely tainted with corruption and should be voted out of power. Need to.” said.
AAP’s Leader of Opposition in East Delhi Municipal Corporation Manoj Tyagi He said that the constitution of the municipal body prohibits any councilor from benefiting any member of his family.
“Surprisingly, the BJP councilor and the mayor of the corporation say that there is no harm in doing so,” he alleged. It is not only illegal but it is also a new way of carrying out large scale loot.
South Delhi Municipal CorporationLeader of Opposition Prem Chauhan said that till action is not taken in this matter, AAP will continue its protest.
“BJP is giving land free of cost to its own people in the name of NGOs. This includes hospital land, schools, parking lots and many other properties.
“When we demanded action, the BJP corporator said there was nothing wrong in it. We will continue the protest till no action is taken in this matter,” he said.
Recently, AAP has opened a front against BJP raising various issues of corruption and other irregularities ahead of civic elections. In Delhi, all the three municipal corporations are ruled by the BJP while AAP is the main opposition party.
