State Home Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa today said that Punjab is in safe hands under the Charanjit Singh Channi government. Mr. Randhawa also hit out at the former chief minister for his failure to fulfill the 2017 election promises.

After this a war of tweets broke out between the former Chief Minister and the current Home Minister. The latter said that a Pakistani journalist known to be a friend of Mr Singh should be investigated for alleged links with the ISI.

When asked about the defense journalist’s scenes with Pakistani military officers, Mr. Randhawa said, “The captain is saying that Punjab is under threat from ISI. So we will also investigate Arosa Alam’s relationship with ISI.”

Hitting back at the “personal attacks”, Mr Singh said Arosa Alam had been coming to India for 16 years with the Centre’s approval and questioned Mr Randhawa whether he was alleging that the NDA and previous UPA governments had sided with the ISI. of collusion.

“You were a minister in my cabinet @Sukhjinder_INC. You never heard complaint about Arosa Alam. And she was coming with GOI approval for 16 years. Or you are alleging that NDA and @INCIndia in this period Both the UPA led government in collusion. Pak with ISI?’: @capt_amarinder,” tweeted Raveen Thukral, media advisor to former chief minister.

Mr Thukral also tweeted a picture of Ms Alam with Congress President Sonia Gandhi.

Mr Singh asked what happened to the current government’s “long promises” on drug matters and said, “Punjab is still waiting for your promise to act”.

Shri Singh’s resignation as Chief Minister In the face of bitter infighting in the Punjab Congress unit, it is now a blame game, with Mr Singh and the current government blaming the failures in fulfilling election promises. Mr Singh has said that he will launch his own organization and will deal warmly with the BJP with political understanding in the coming elections.

Taking a jibe at the former chief minister, Randhawa tweeted, “… don’t you worry about the law and order situation as we have not outsourced the Punjab government to ‘anyone’.” He also said that the former chief minister failed to take the investigation of sacrilege and drug cases to their logical conclusion.

Asked why he was “upset” over the possible investigation against Arusa Alam, he asked who sponsored his visa.

Mr Singh responded by saying that it was he who sponsored Ms Alam’s visa and that such requests are granted only after clearance from security agencies.

The former chief minister said he was concerned that instead of focusing on the law and order situation amid terrorist threats, the Punjab government has deployed police on a “baseless investigation at the cost of Punjab’s security”.

Arosa Alam’s name had cropped up earlier when Mr Singh had targeted Congress leader and arch rival Navjot Singh Sidhu for attending Imran Khan’s swearing-in ceremony in 2018 and hugging Pakistan Army chief Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The journalist, who met Amarinder Singh during his visit to Pakistan in 2004, is reportedly a regular visitor to his house.
