Prescribing a dress code for lawyers, hearing a case on Wednesday, the court directed, “They should wear ‘plain white shirt/white salwar-kameez/white sari’ while appearing in the court in virtual form”. The court has shown leniency in not imposing any cost on the guilty advocate.
In its order, the court cited past instances of such appearances, which included ‘a woman lawyer with a face pack’, a ‘lawyer while driving a scooter’ and a lawyer appearing before the court ‘wearing a vest’ . The court warned and said it would not ignore any more ‘casual appearance’ by lawyers during virtual court hearings.
