World Championships bronze medalist Lakshya Sen advanced to the men’s singles semi-finals of the All England Championships after a walkover from China’s Lu Guang Xu on Friday here.

The 20-year-old from Almora, who claimed his maiden Super 500 title at the India Open in January and then claimed runner-up at last week’s German Open, will face the winner of the match between sixth seed Lee Zi of Malaysia. Jia and second seed Kento Momota of Japan are in the last four rounds.
Fifth-seeded Indian pair of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, however, failed to beat the quarterfinals to lose 22-24 17-21 to Indonesia’s top seeds Marcus Fernaldi Gideon and Kevin Sanjay Sukamuljo in 47 minutes.
Sen had on Thursday defeated world number three and two-time medalist Anders Antonsen of Denmark 21-16, 21-18 to reach the quarter-finals at the World Championships.
The Indian had defeated world number one and Olympic champion Viktor Axelsen of Denmark in his maiden Super 300 final last week.
