Gayatri Gopichand and Trisa Jolly lost in the semi-finals of the All England Championship.
Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand’s stellar performances at the All England Badminton Championships ended in straight games defeats against Xu Jian Zhang and Yu Zheng in the women’s doubles event.
The Indian pair fought hard but lost the last four leg match 17-21, 16-21 to the Chinese team here late on Saturday.
Their defeat came as young Lakshya Sen defeated sixth seed Malaysian Zi Jia Lee 21-13 12-21 21-19 to become the fourth men’s singles player to reach the final of the prestigious tournament.
Sen is now up against world number one Viktor Axelsen and enters the competition with a 1-4 face-to-face record.
The only win for the world number 11 Indian against a Danish player came in his last meeting at the German Open, where Sen defeated him in three matches.
