Cast and filmmakers from Alien: Romulus, including Cailee Spaeny, Archie Renaux, Spike Fearn, and director/writer Fede Alvarez, gathered at London’s Cineworld Theater in Leicester Square earlier this evening for the UK gala screening. A chilling addition to the Alien franchise from Alvarez and producer Ridley Scott, Alien: Romulus released worldwide on August 16, 2024.

Alien: Romulus returns the franchise to its roots, with a group of young space colonisers encountering a terrifying life form while scavenging a derelict space station. The film features Cailee Spaeny, David Jonsson, Archie Renaux, Isabela Merced, Spike Fearn, and Aileen Wu. Directed by Fede Alvarez, who co-wrote the screenplay with Rodo Sayagues, the film is produced by Ridley Scott, Michael Pruss, and Walter Hill, with Alvarez, Elizabeth Cantillon, Brent O’Connor, and Tom Moran serving as executive producers.

Alien: Romulus officially premiered in theaters on April 16, 2024. However, some eager fans got a sneak peek with early showings starting on April 15, enjoying the latest chapter in the Alien saga a day before its official release. The film’s return to theatres has been highly anticipated, promising the intense action and chilling atmosphere the series is known for, according to Cosmopolitan.

Where to watch it on OTT

Originally planned as a streaming-only release, 20th Century Studios decided to bring Alien: Romulus to theatres, much to the excitement of fans. If you prefer watching at home, Alien: Romulus will soon be available for streaming on Hulu. Though it just premiered in theatres, it will eventually make its way to Hulu a few months later. For those without Hulu, the film will also be available for rental or purchase after its streaming release, one you can still catch the latest Alien movie.

Alien: Romulus mostly tells its own story but links back to the original Alien and Ridley Scott’s prequels, Prometheus (2012) and Alien: Covenant (2017). The film also features surprising connections to Prometheus, especially in its surprising ending.
