Before Abhishek Nigam, Sheezan Khan was the lead in Ali Baba. However, Khan is currently in judicial custody in connection with the suicide of his former co-star Tunisha Sharma.
The production of Ali Baba: Dastaan-e-Kabul was put on hold due to the untimely demise of the show’s female lead, Tunisha Sharma. But recently the makers of the television series resumed the work. Earlier, it was actor Sheezan Khan, who played the lead role of Ali Baba. Now, while Khan is in judicial custody in connection with Tunisha’s suicide, the makers have roped in actor Abhishek Nigam to replace him. Just a day back, a new promo showing Nigam’s grand entry in the fantasy TV series was shared by the makers. The name of the show has also been changed to Ali Baba: Ek Andaz Andha Chapter 2 in place of the male lead.
In the promo clip, Abhishek Nigam can be seen walking on top of a building removing his red cap to reveal the new face of Ali Baba. Releasing the promo clip, the makers announced, “Kabul Ki Daastan Jo Reh Gayi Thi Adhuri, Laut Aaya Hai Rakhwala Naye Aandaz Mein Karne Puri.” Watch the teaser here:
While the show is aiming for a fresh start, the loyal fans are not going down the drain on Sheezan Khan’s replacement. Several Instagram users expressed their disappointment in the comments section of the promo. One user wrote, “Sheezaan Khan bina yeh show hameshi adhura rahega (The show will always remain incomplete without Sheezaan Khan). Sheezan is the best hero.” Another said, “Without Sheejan, Ali Baba: Dastan-e-Kabul is empty.” Another added, “Ali baba Shezaan Khan tha aur wahi rahega (Sheezaan Khan was Ali Baba and will always be). Miss you Shezain Khan.”
Several media reports suggest that the story will show Ali Baba as coming out of a serious injury using an ancient cosmetic surgery. Earlier, the makers had also confirmed that Tunisha Sharma’s character will not be replaced by anyone but the story will move forward with other characters. Apart from Abhishek Nigam, actress Twinkle Vashisht is also a new entrant in the fantasy tale. Earlier, rumors of Avneet Kaur being the female lead were also doing the rounds online, however, Yuva’s mother has rubbished the rumours.
