Akshay Kumar spoke about his upcoming projects and gave an update on Hera Pheri 4.
Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff are gearing up for the release of their upcoming film, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. They are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that the film is a hit. As such, they recently appeared on YouTuber Ranveer Allahabadia’s podcast. Among other things, Akshay Kumar spoke about the revival of the comedy genre in the coming years with films like Welcome 3, Houseful 5 and Hera Pheri 4.
Speaking about the dearth of comedy films in Bollywood, Akshay said, “Abhi aa jayega. Yeh saal, agle saal tak kaafi comedy films aa jayengi. Do-teen toh main hi kar raha hoon.” When asked about his projects, Akshay said, “Main kar raha hoon. Welcome kar raha hoon, Housefull kar raha hoon, phir shayad Heri Pheri bhi karoonga.”
Akshay also spoke about how people take offence to the jokes in comedy films. He said, “Arre mazaak nahi uda raha hoon. I’m just doing a part. I’m just playing a character. Toh I find it very…”
Earlier, it was said that Kartik Aaryan had replaced Akshay in the film. This had caused a stir among fans, who loved the franchise because of the chemistry Akshay had with Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal. Akshay then returned to the franchise and the film reportedly went on floors last year.
The film also landed in legal trouble soon after the shooting began. T-Series had sent a legal notice to the makers regarding the music rights and distribution. According to a trade magazine, T-Series issued a public notice to the makers of Hera Pheri 4, claiming all the audio and visual rights of every song in the film’s franchise. In the notice, the production company has called itself the “sole and exclusive right holder of all copyright of all “Music and Audio Visual Song Rights” of the Franchise Film on all modes, mediums and formats (whether existing now and arising in future) throughout the entire world and in perpetuity.”
Hera Pheri 4 will be helmed by Farhad Samji. Apart from its original cast of Akshay Kumar, Paresh Rawal and Suniel Shetty, the film will also star Sanjay Dutt in a pivotal role.
