Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav Hope to meet ailing party MLA Aajam Khan At Sir Ganga Ram Hospital in Delhi on Wednesday. According to available information, Azam Khan’s lawyer and senior advocate Kapil Sibal may also be present during Akhilesh Yadav’s visit.

This will be the first meeting between the two leaders since the Rampur MLA’s exit from Sitapur Jail. Earlier on Monday, former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah met Azam Khan.

Azam Khan came out of jail on bail on May 20 and was admitted to Sir Ganga Ram Hospital for routine health check-up on Sunday after his health deteriorated. Hospital sources said that his condition is stable.

Recently there was speculation about Azam Khan being unhappy with the SP chief leadership. Kapil Sibal is believed to have been working as a bridge between Azam Khan and Akhilesh Yadav. Although both Azam and Akhilesh have categorically denied all rumors of disagreement or rift between them.

Recently, Kapil Sibal filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha seat from Uttar Pradesh as an SP-backed independent candidate. The Samajwadi Party supported Sibal, after which his place is believed to be almost final.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav and other senior SP leaders were also present during Kapil Sibal’s Rajya Sabha nomination. Sibal has also been Azam Khan’s lawyer in the Supreme Court and helped him get bail.

However, now the focus is on the by-election to be held in Rampur parliamentary seat. There were speculations that someone from Azam Khan’s family might contest the by-election on a Samajwadi Party ticket, although the SP is yet to announce its official candidate for the election.

The Rampur parliamentary seat fell vacant following Azam Khan’s resignation after he decided to continue as MLA from Rampur (Sadar) assembly seat.
