Akasa Air Opens India’s Only Door Trainer, Expands Its Learning Academy

AKASA Air has inaugurated the second phase of its training and development center – AKASA Air Learning Academy (AALA) in Gurugram. The aim of the academy is to enhance its capability to provide practical and experiential training to its employees including pilots, cabin crew, engineers and airport services and security personnel. The training centre, which is slated to open in July 2022, now also gets India’s only door trainer for the next generation aircraft. The 14,000 sq. ft. dedicated Learning Academy now gets an additional 20,000 sq. ft. of space with world-class learning capabilities for the modern aviation world.

The expansion builds on Akasa Air’s capabilities to train over 700 future-ready aviation professionals, according to India’s latest airline co-founded by the late Rakesh Jhunjhunwala. The facilities equip the airline to provide regulatory as well as safety, service and operational training including service excellence, leadership, communications, departure control systems, security and emergency procedures, first aid, advanced computerized reservation and check-in training. The facility has several oversized training rooms equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a library of aviation knowledge resources such as manuals and research case studies, breakout rooms, booths and relaxation areas. The state-of-the-art door trainer enables the cabin crew to practice normal and emergency situations in a realistic environment. In addition to simulating regular flight phase scenarios such as push back, taxi, cruise, descent and landing with pre-recorded announcements, operating on Type I main gates and Type III automatic over wing exits, practical training is provided. , Door Trainer is equipped to simulate multi-scenario emergency situation management.

The trainer makes training more effective with the real-world environment by matching the operational characteristics of the aircraft’s equipment and is designed to facilitate the highest possible levels of safety and emergency training to the cabin crew.
