Actor Suriya and director Pandiraj’s film Atharakkum Thunindhavan (ET), which was scheduled to release during Pongal next year, will now release in February. Since Ajith’s film Valimai was also scheduled to release on January 14 next year on the occasion of Pongal, it was being said that there would be a clash between the two big Tamil films. But an announcement made by Sun Pictures yesterday has put an end to all the speculations.
Sun Pictures announced on Twitter on November 19 that Suriya’s Itharakkum Thunindhavan will release on February 4, 2022.
This means Ajith’s Valimai will get a solo release on Pongal next year. The shooting of ET has been completed and the post production work of the film will start soon. The teaser of Suriya’s film has received an overwhelming response. However, it might be a bit disturbing for the fans of Suriya that the release of the film has been pushed ahead of the time of Pongal festival. But the release of the film in February is also expected to be tremendous. A simultaneous release of both the giants could have caused huge losses to both the films or at least one of them.
Sun Pictures has produced Suriya’s ET. It is based on a social issue. This film is going to be the third collaboration of Suriya and director Pandiraj.
On the other hand, Ajith’s Valimai is directed by H Vinoth. Huma Qureshi and Kartikeya Gummakonda are playing important roles in the film. The film is produced by Boney Kapoor and Zee Studios.
