Ajith Kumar’s action-packed film Valimai premiered on Zee5 on 25 March in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu and Kannada. Within a week of its release, the film has achieved a big milestone. The film has garnered 500 million streaming minutes in the first week itself.
Producer Boney Kapoor announced the achievement through his social media handle. He tweeted, “The most watched and watched movie, Valimai continues to break all records everywhere with 500 million minutes of streaming.”
Across the country, the film has been loved by audiences for its brilliant cinematography and performances. Valimai is an undisputed pan-India blockbuster in the digital space as well.
Apart from this, the film will also be streamed in Malayalam. ZEE5 has been flooded with requests regarding the same and in response to popular demand the streaming giant is also providing a Malayalam version.
Huma Qureshi, who is starring in the film, shares, “I am extremely happy to have received tremendous love from audiences on our film across India. A big shout out to ZEE5 for giving us a platform to share Valimai’s story with people across the globe. This way we can stay in close touch with all our fans at a distance of just a click.”
The film received mixed reviews upon its release in theatres. Criticism was directed at the screenplay. However, producer Boney Kapoor said that the collection of the film was satisfactory. He also claimed that the film earned over Rs 200 crore.
A film producer and member of the Distributors Association, K. Rajan said the film in Chennai’s Chengalpattu area caused 10 per cent loss to the distributors who bought the film and 20 per cent in areas outside it.
Valimai was directed by H Vinoth and released in theaters on February 24.
