New Delhi: Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM) has called for a six-hour long nationwide ‘Rail Roko’ agitation on Monday, demanding the removal of the Union Minister of State for Home (MOS). Ajay Mishra Regarding Teni from the Union Cabinet Lakhimpur Kheri Incident, in which his son Ashish Mishra Teni is an accused.
Here are the major events-
* A statement issued by the umbrella body of farmers unions on Sunday said, “To press for the demand for the dismissal and arrest of Ajay Mishra, so that justice can be secured. Lakhimpur Kheri violence, SKM has announced nationwide rail roko program on October 18.”
* SKM calls upon its constituents to stop rail traffic for six hours between 10 am to 4 pm on 18 October.
* Train services are likely to be affected due to the bandh call.
* SKM, an umbrella body of 40 farmer unions, said that it has made it clear that “until justice is not done in Lakhimpur Kheri If this happens, the movement will not only continue but will intensify.
* SKM has also appealed to all its constituents to strictly follow the guidelines.
* Meanwhile, the Railways is gearing up to deal with the situation in view of the Rail Roko call given by the farmers.
* High level railway officials have discussed the matter with the security forces regarding the safety of the passengers. However, till now no train has been canceled by the Railways.
SKM Ajay Mishra has been demanding the dismissal of Teni from the Council of Ministers.
* It is very clear that with Ajay Mishra being the Minister of State for Home Affairs in the Central Government, justice cannot be secured in this matter, the notice further stated.
* Ajay Mishra promoted hatred, enmity and communal disharmony between Hindus and Sikhs in his speeches. It is their vehicles which were used to crush the peaceful protesters. The police harassed his son and associates despite issuing summons to Ashish Mishra.
A total of eight people, including four farmers, were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence. The SKM had alleged that Ashish Mishra shot a farmer while others were crushed by the vehicles of his vehicle.
However, MoS Teni Refuting the allegations, he said that his son was not present at the spot. Ashish reiterated the same and denied the allegations of SKM.
Later, three people including Ashish Mishra were arrested in the case.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has produced accused Ashish Mishra before the Crime Branch on October 14 and sent him to jail.
