Ajay Jadeja fined Rs 5000 for throwing garbage in Goa village

Village sarpanch Tripti Bandodkar said the popular cricketer of the 90s paid the fine without any ruckus.

Panaji: Former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja, who owns a bungalow in north Goa’s picturesque Aldona village, has been fined Rs 5,000 for dumping garbage in the neighboring village of Nachinola, village sarpanch Tripti Bandodkar said on Monday.

Bandodkar said that the popular cricketer of the 90s paid the fine without any fuss.

“We are plagued by the issue of garbage in our village. Garbage is also thrown from outside in the village, so we deputed some youth to collect garbage bags and scan them for any evidence to identify the culprits,” said the sarpanch.

“We found a bill in Ajay Jadeja’s name in some garbage bags. When we asked him not to throw garbage in the village in future, he said that he was ready to pay the fine. So he paid. We are proud that such a personality, a popular cricket player, lives in our village, but such people should follow the garbage rules.

Aldona village is home to many celebrities, including Jadeja and author Amitabh Ghosh.
