The ED recorded Aishwarya’s statement under the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999 on charges of depositing money abroad. He had earlier submitted records on overseas payments under investigation. The ED had issued a notice to the Bachchan family asking them to explain their foreign remittances since 2004 under the Liberalized Remittance Scheme (LRS) of the Reserve Bank of India. Sources in the agency said that Aishwarya was summoned earlier but she could not appear and sought the next date at least twice.
