Airtel discontinues Rs 49 prepaid recharge, hikes entry-level pricing – Times of India

New Delhi: With a focus on improving realization, Airtel On Wednesday it announced revisions to its prepaid plans, increasing its entry-level pricing by nearly 60 percent.
The telecom operator said that it has discontinued its entry level prepaid recharge of Rs 49. Airtel said in a statement that the company’s prepaid packs will now start at Rs 79 smart recharge and will offer customers access to four times more outgoing minutes with double data.
“This change is in line with the company’s focus on offering better connectivity solutions. On entry-level recharge, Airtel customers can now stay connected for longer hours without worrying about their account balance,” Airtel said.
The amendment is effective from July 29, 2021.
The Rs 79 plan packs Rs 64 talk time and 200 MB data with a validity of 28 days.
The latest move assumes significance as telecom operators are focusing on increasing the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU).
Last week, Airtel upgraded its postpaid plans, while earlier this week, Vodafone Idea (VIL), Vi Business today announced a range of new postpaid plans for corporate customers, saying that the upgraded plans will be bundled with various benefits.
